STH Live Sports hospitality, a look back at an unforgettable 2016

2016 was a year of memorable sport and superb hospitality for STH Live sports hospitality clients. Below we take a look back at the last 12 months and share images and memories of the fantastic STH Live sports hospitality that our clients enjoyed across a variety of events including rugby, football, cycling and even a flower show.

It has also been a significant year for our business. As the exclusive and official hospitality providers for both London 2012 (under Prestige Ticketing Ltd) and more recently Rugby World Cup 2015 we have brought together our expertise as the UK’s leading provider of corporate hospitality, which has led to the creation of STH Live.  You can find out more about this development in the About Us section on the website.

RBS Six Nations 2016

2016 began with a bang when England, under new coach Eddie Jones, won the Six Nations Grand Slam following five straight victories.  New captain Dylan Hartley proved an inspired choice as England skipper whenhe led a new look team that featured young powerhouses George Kruis and Maro Itoje to become Grand Slam champions for the first time in thirteen years. There was more to come later in the year as England looked to build an unbeaten year of rugby.

For key matches against Wales and Ireland we hosted clients and their guests at the Chase Bridge Hospitality Village at Twickenham. Chase Bridge is regarded as one of the finest official hospitality experiences at Twickenham with a rich history of offering hospitality at the home of rugby for nearly 30 years. All packages included the best seats in the West Stand as well as celebrity guest speakers before and after the game and complimentary food and beverages.

UCI Track Cycling World Championships 2016

In a sign of things to come at Rio later in the year, British cyclists topped the medal table at the UCI Track Cycling World Championships hosted at the Lee Valley VeloPark in London. Those in attendance were treated to a series of unforgettable moments. Laura Trott delighted the home crowd with a thrilling sprint finish in the women’s scratch race and the Championships ended on a high for Team GB, as Sir Bradley Wiggins and Mark Cavendish teamed up to take the world Madison title and Trott stormed the Ominum to claim her second gold.

Hospitality was unlike anything ever seen at a Track Cycling Championships.  As exclusive official provider of hospitality for the Championships we worked closely with British Cycling to deliver a unique track centre experience as well as a  temporary Pavilion structure outside the Velodrome. This unique experience meant our guests enjoyed fine dining at the centre of the racetrack as well as front row access to the winner’s podium bringing them closer to the action than any other sporting event in the world.

We took a slight step away from sport and partnered with the official hospitality programme for the ever-popular Chelsea Flower Show starting the summer season in style. The grounds of the Royal Hospital Chelsea were transformed with incredible horticultural displays once more for this prestigious and sell-out event. Guests were offered a sophisticated dining experience designed by world-renowned chef Raymond Blanc OBE with bespoke cocktails mixed by the London Cocktail Club. Nestled in a peaceful corner of the show, Jardin Blanc combined a stylish experience with fantastic entertainment and wonderful service, made all the more special for being set in such beautiful surroundings.

A summer of spectacular sport kicked off with the UEFA EURO 2016 football tournament in France. Featuring the most teams in any previous Tournament and with Wales, republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland and England qualified this was a landmark event in 2016. Unfortunately England was unable to progress after a surprise loss to Iceland, but Cristiano Ronaldo spearheaded a resilient Portuguese effort that culminated in them lifting the Henri Delauney trophy in Paris on the 11 July.

As the exclusive UK&I sales agent for this event our clients were able to offer their guests access to official hospitality packages for both VIP boxes and lounges that featured outstanding dining along with the best located seats in the stadium.

The Championships, Wimbledon 2016

Wimbledon solidified its status as the most prestigious tennis Tournament in the world in 2016. From the drama on the court, to legendary performances across all knock out games to Andy Murray’s second victory, Wimbledon 2016 was a Tournament to remember.

As you would expect from an event as prestigious as Wimbledon the hospitality on offer was industry leading, combining perfectly located seats and exquisite dining. The Wimbledon Club was the oasis of calm that our clients enjoyed with their guests across 14 days of world-class tennis.

NFL International Series 2016

The greatest show on turf arrived at Twickenham in October 2016 as the LA Rams took on the NY Giants for the first time at the home of Rugby. In a closely contested game the Giants managed to snatch victory from a very competitive Rams team. A sell-out crowd witnessed one of the finest individual touchdowns of the season by New York Giants’ Landon Collins as well as a half time pre-match performance from Craig David and Nicole Scherzinger.

Hospitality was provided in the Twickenham function rooms where guests were able to enjoy American themed snacks with guest appearances from former NFL players and official cheerleaders.

OMW Autumn Internationals 2016

England finished the year as they started with a clean sweep of the OMW Autumn Internationals. The 4-0 win means they now extend their number of consecutive wins to 14-0 under coach Eddie Jones. A second consecutive Grand Slam in 2017 would equal the current record of 18 consecutive wins set by the all-conquering All Blacks.

The final game of a truly amazing OMW Series for England Rugby saw them beat Australia and end the year with a 100% record having won all 13 matches under Eddie Jones.

Tickets for the final game of the season versus Australia were in huge demand. Hospitality packages for this game were a must have ticket for corporate clients as well as personal purchasers wishing to see an England team in their prime, potentially on their way to a record setting series of victories.
