Team GB’s Emily Sarsfield confirmed at the STH Live Business Breakfast event

Team GB’s Emily Sarsfield confirmed at the STH Live Business Breakfast event.

The first STH Live Business Breakfast event of 2018 will explore the key challenges of performing under pressure and overcoming failure. Keynote speaker Mandy Hickson will be joined by Ben Kay MBE, who was an integral part of the 2003 World Cup winning England Rugby team, and STH Live are pleased to announce that Britain’s leading Ski-Cross athlete Emily Sarsfield has also been confirmed on the guest panel.

Emily has faced adversity in her quest to compete for her nation at the Olympic Winter Games, suffering a potentially career-threatening injury in 2009 at the test event for the Vancouver 2010 Games. Bouncing back from this, Emily made history in 2010 by being the first British female skier to win a Europa Cup. She narrowly missed out on competing at Sochi 2014, with a controversial decision that she didn’t meet the qualifying criteria, and was later forced to undergo further knee surgery ahead of the 2015 season.

A return to competition saw Emily put in a number of solid performances that earnt selection for her first Olympic Winter Games in PyeongChang 2018. Fresh from South Korea, Emily will be joining STH Live to discuss her challenges and how she remained focused to achieve her goal of reaching an Olympic Winter Games.

STH Live looks forward to welcoming guests to Glaziers Hall on Thursday for our latest Business Breakfast Series.

Topic: Join STH Live for a keynote speech on performing under pressure and overcoming failure. Celebrating Rugby World Cup 2019 and the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games.

What: How do you motivate and inspire your staff to demonstrate outstanding leadership and teamwork under pressure; to stride confidently towards purposeful goals and maintain focus despite great risks? Mandy Hickson’s story is one of drive and determination, triumphs and setbacks. Using her unique experience, Mandy will demonstrate critical success factors required to perform under pressure and overcome failure, in order to get the best for yourself or your team.  Mandy will be joined by Rugby World Cup winner Ben Kay MBE and a Team GB athlete fresh from the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games, who will share their experiences and how this relates to their careers on the world stage.

Keynote speaker: Mandy Hickson was the only female pilot on her Front Line Tornado Squadron, flying multi-million pound fighter jets for the Royal Air Force in hostile territory. Whilst for many this is a dream job, it is a career that takes years of ambition, training and commitment. Mandy’s route to the top was tumultuous in every sense and despite prowess in the skies she failed the computer-based tests, taken by all potential RAF pilots. Undeterred and with unwavering self-belief Mandy overcame seemingly insurmountable hurdles to complete three tours of duty and 45 missions over Iraq.

Guest Panel: England Rugby legend Ben Kay MBE and Team GB’s Emily Sarsfield will be giving an insight into overcoming failure and working individually and as a team to achieve success at the highest level in their sport.

Webb Ellis Cup: STH Live are excited to announce that the Webb Ellis Cup will be at the event, and attendees will have the opportunity to have a photo with the famous prize for the winners of Rugby World Cup.
